Best Time to Dive: June to October & December to Marc
June to October (Dry Season)
- Conditions: Calm seas, low rainfall, and cooler temperatures
- Visibility: 20–30 meters
- Marine Life: Reef fish, octopus, nudibranchs, and occasional turtles
- Ideal For: Beginners and experienced divers alike
This is a perfect time for diving on Zanzibar’s north and west coasts, including Mnemba Atoll, Tumbatu Island, and Kendwa Reef.
December to March (Warm & Dry)
- Conditions: Warm water (~28°C), little rain
- Visibility: Often up to 30 meters
- Marine Life: Reef sharks, dolphins, manta rays in some spots

This is a great time for south coast dive sites, including Kizimkazi and Paje, where pelagic sightings are more common.
Worst Times to Dive: April–May & November
- April–May: Long rains bring choppy seas and reduced visibility.
- November: Short rains can affect water clarity and surface conditions.
