6-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb – Marangu Route Itinerary
Conquer Africa’s highest peak with the 6-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via the Marangu Route. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu offers comfortable hut accommodations, scenic rainforest trails, and a gradual ascent ideal for both first-time and experienced climbers.
Day 1: Marangu Gate (1,860m) – Mandara Hut (2,700m)
After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate, complete registration, and meet your climbing team. Begin your hike through lush rainforest filled with birds, monkeys, and giant ferns. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Continue your climb through moorland terrain, passing through giant lobelias and scenic viewpoints. Enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks as you approach Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

- Habitat: Moorland
Day 3: Acclimatization at Horombo Hut
Spend an extra day at Horombo Hut to help your body acclimatize. Take a short hike toward Mawenzi Ridge for panoramic views and return for lunch. Rest and prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.
- Optional hike: 3–4 hours round trip
- Altitude gain: ~400m
Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,703m)
Trek across the Saddle, a vast alpine desert between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The landscape becomes barren as you reach Kibo Hut, your base for the summit attempt. Have an early dinner and rest before your midnight climb.

- Habitat: Alpine desert
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Begin your summit climb around midnight. Ascend slowly to Gilman’s Point (5,681m), then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate at the summit before descending back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Arusha/Moshi
Descend through moorland and rainforest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Transfer to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for relaxation or onward travel.
